How much does a small business website cost?
There are two common ways to pay for a website: a one-time build, or a monthly plan that includes hosting and upkeep. This guide shows how to compare them and uses our own plan as the worked example.
Two ways to pay
A one-time build means you pay a developer once, then pay separately for hosting, a domain, updates and fixes. A monthly plan bundles the website, hosting and maintenance into one recurring price. Neither is always cheaper. What matters is what is included and how long you will use it.
A worked example with our plan
Our monthly plan is $297 a month with no long-term commitment. Over time that adds up like this:
| Months | Cost on the monthly plan |
|---|---|
| 3 (prepaid) | $891 |
| 12 | $3,564 |
| 36 | $10,692 |
Prepaying three months is $891, the same price as three months at $297. The prepaid option also includes one-time SEO and Google Business Profile setup and three blog posts. Compare these totals with a one-time quote only after adding hosting, updates, booking tools and text follow-up to it, since those are included in our plan.
Questions to ask any provider
- What is included: hosting, maintenance, security updates, booking and forms?
- What does a change cost, and who approves it?
- Who owns the domain, and what happens to the site if you cancel?
- Is there a contract, and how do you cancel?
- What is not included, and what will it cost when you need it?

Common questions
Is a monthly plan cheaper than a one-time build?
It depends on what the one-time price leaves out and how long you keep the site. Add hosting, updates and tools to a one-time quote before comparing.
What does the three-month prepaid option cost?
$891 upfront, the same as three months at $297, and it includes one-time SEO and Google Business Profile setup and three blog posts.
Can I cancel the monthly plan?
There is no long-term commitment. To cancel, send us a written request. Your service terms explain what happens next.
